Welcome to Pinocchio Art School!

Welcome to Pinocchio Art School

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.
- Pablo Picasso

Pinocchio Art School is very proud to be a part of North Burnaby's vibrant community. Conveniently located in the middle of colorful Burnaby Heights neighborhood on Hastings Street and Willingdon Avenue, it offers full spectrum of art education for kids as early as 2 years old, as well as fun arts and crafts seminars and master-classes for both kids and adults.

Pinocchio Art School's ultimate goal is to bring forth the CREATOR that lives inside every child. And for the adults - to get in touch with their inner ARTIST.
Since Pinocchio Arts and Craft School is first and foremost about EDUCATION, in addition to traditional art disciplines, such as Painting, Drawing,

Sculpture, Mixed Media and various Crafts, we also include Art History through the ages, World Art and its Masters, Material Culture of the various nations of the world, how art influences fashion, and many more subjects not usually found in a traditional Art School. We want kids to KNOW their art!

About the Founders

About the SchoolThe school was founded by two artists Nadia and Masha. In their professional careers they were very eager to share their artistic spirit and inspiration with the community so Pinocchio Art School came about as a natural fit. They both know the local community and their kids go to Gilmore School.

Nadia's background is in theater stage design and decoration. She has been working for many years as stage designer and props maker before starting - by a mere chance - to teach children arts and craft. Children creative talents impressed her so much that she had moved into child art education full time, acquiring degrees in Teaching and Child psychology in addition to her Art degree along the way.

Masha is an Emily Carr University graduate in Comm. Design and a painter extraordinaire. She is fascinated with art and everything that has to do with the right half of the brain :-). Her areas of expertise are Design, Typography, Painting and Drawing. This year Masha took her art to the Dragon's Den facing the Dragons so we can't wait to watch her on TV! She has a 7-year old son who is learning art and sometimes teaches her mom a trick or two.

What Do Artists Do?

Artists look closely.
They look at big things and little things.
They look behind and under.
They look at things from all side.

Artists tell about things in their own ways.

Artists paint pictures of people.
Their art tells some things about the people.

Artists paint what they like.

Artists paint pictures of what they like.
They paint views they like.

Artists like to think in new ways.
they play with ideas.

Artists look at old things in new ways.
they want you to see things with new eyes.

Artists use old things in new ways.

Artists tell about our world.
